For Nuit blanche à Montréal, VOX will be open until midnight! Take advantage of these extended visiting hours and the presence of our passionate educators to (re)discover both ongoing exhibitions. An unusual “movie night” also awaits you: the documentary VALIE EXPORT – Icon and Rebel (one night only screening!) will be shown along with a special selection of 20 experimental films by the world-renowned Austrian artist, all part of her limited-edition box set Metanoia (1968-2010). The program will start at 8:00 p.m., for mature audiences only as of 10:00 p.m….

Continuing its research into the practice, history and future of exhibitions and their documentation, VOX presents the fifth in its series of documentary exhibitions, dedicated this time to the event 03 23 03 – First International Encounter on Contemporary Art in Montreal, 1977. Organized by France Morin, Chantal Pontbriand and Normand Thériault and presented in a disused post office, this major event included an exhibition, a series of performances, and debates.

Austrian artist VALIE EXPORT is considered one of the most important figures in the fields of Conceptual Art, performance and film. Active since the 1960s, she continues to have an ongoing influence with her seminal feminist and media-critical works. This monographic exhibition is part of a research program initiated by VOX in 2005, revisiting major artistic practices, here with a significant body of work that has never been presented in Montreal.
