Art critic, curator, communication theorist and translator, of German origin, Bernard Schütze has lived and worked in Montreal since 1985. His essays have been published in art magazines (Canadian Art, C Magazine, Ciel variable, Espace art actuel, esse arts + opinions, ETC, Parachute, Spirale, etc.) He has written various catalogue articles, including Hors de moi/Beside Myself, published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition of artist Daniel Olson at Expression, Patrick Bernatchez: Lost in Time, published by the Galerie de l’UQAM, and The Québec Triennial 2011 : The Work Ahead of Us. He is also the author of texts that have appeared in artists’ monographs, including Persistance on the work of Mathieu Beauséjour and Le Fil d’Ariane, a reflection on a project by Aude Moreau. He has given lectures at several artistic events in Canada and Europe. As a translator, he has translated works by Jean Baudrillard, Félix Guattari and Heiner Müller into English. [Source: VOX, 2022]
