Hannah Collins
Hannah Collins was born in London in 1956 and lives and works in Barcelona and London.
Since 1986, she has been creating monumental work which captures the passage of time and the mark of history on architecture, places, and people. Her work has been shown on numerous occasions in Europe and the United States. Recently, the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo in Málaga dedicated a major exhibit to her work, accompanied by a publication. Her photographic and video work has been shown, among other places, at the Nelson Gallery of the University of California, Davis (2003), at Printemps de septembre in Toulouse (2003), at the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York (2003), at the Venice Biennale (2000), at the John Hansard Gallery in Southampton, Great Britain (1999), at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona (1998), at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin (1996), and at the 3rd Istanbul Biennial in Turkey (1993). Her work is found in many private and public collections, including the Museu d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Hannah Collins was awarded the prestigious Turner Prize by the Tate Gallery in 1993 and is represented by Joan Pratz in Barcelona, Xavier Hufkens in Belgium, and Leo Castelli in New York.
