Retrospectively

Monographic exhibitions conceived around extensive corpora of works undeniably play a large part in VOX’s programming. These exhibitions provide the chance to explore the little-known aspects of established artists’ work. Each time, we tackled the same challenge: that of revisiting the past while adopting an in-the-now perspective. For, as the Tina Kukielski so aptly put it: “It is to the impossible, the incomplete, that curators should look in the hopes of unearthing some small meaningful shard, a new perspective from which to look back.” If the idea of the retrospective has meaning for us, at VOX, it is informed by that (re)discovery process.
