Dominique Blain

Dominique Blain’s vision of the world is embodied in a constantly evolving body of work, combining objects and images to reveal a world that has lost its bearings. Often considered political, this work speaks of universal subjects, close to human destiny. Major exhibitions of her work have been held at the Galerie de l’UQAM, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the Arnolfini International Centre for Contemporary Arts in Bristol (UK) among others, and have also toured major cities in Canada, the UK, Europe and the USA.
She has created several major public works, including at the Maison symphonique and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, as well as at the CBC head office in Toronto. In 2014, the Quebec government awarded her its highest distinction, the Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas. In 2019, the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris presented a major exhibition that toured to the Centre de création contemporaine Olivier-Debré in Tours in 2020 and the Château de Chambord in 2021. She received the Governor General’s Award in Visual Arts from the Canada Council for the Arts in 2024. She lives and works in Montréal. [Source: VOX, 2025]
