Frédérick Gravel

Frédérick Gravel is a choreographer, dancer, musician and lighting designer who challenges traditional structures of choreographic art by bringing aspects of rock and performance art into his work. He is a long-time associate of the company Daniel Léveillé Danse, and became its artistic director in 2018. His recent productions include Fear and Greed (2019), Some Hope for the Bastards (2017), This Duet That We’ve Already Done (so many times) (2015), Usually Beauty Fails (2012), All Hell Is Breaking Loose, Honey (2010), and Gravel Works (2009). Logique du pire (2016) and Ainsi parlait… 2013) were co-created with the author Étienne Lepage. In February 2015, he presented Cabaret Gravel Cabaret with some twenty guest artists, among them Dear Criminals and the Molinari Quartet. Gravel also choreographed singer-songwriter Pierre Lapointe’s show Mutantès (2008). Truly cutting across cultures and art disciplines, his works are created in close collaboration with the members of Grouped’ArtGravelArtGroup (GAG), a shifting collective of dancers and musicians.
