Jonathan Plante
Jonathan Plante lives and works in Montréal, where he earned a master’s degree in visualand media arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Concordia University. He works mainly with multidisciplinary installations. Echoing op art and experimental cinema, his exhibitions are a fieldwork exploration of visual perception. In 2005 he went to Amsterdam for a two-year residency at De Ateliers, and presented solo and group exhibitions during his stay in the Netherlands. In 2008 he was recognized by the Montréal art scene at the first Québec Triennial, organized by the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal. In 2010 and 2011, he presented the solo exhibitions Palindrome at the Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides (Saint-Jérôme) and Parallaxe at Galerie Division (Montréal). He participated in the 2012 edition of the International Symposium of Contemporary Art of Baie-Saint-Paul. In 2013, he created an exhibition for young audiences for VOX, centre de l’image contemporaine (Montréal), which later toured Canada. In 2014, he presented the solo exhibition Moonwalk at Galerie Hugues Charbonneau (Montréal), followed in 2017 by Angle mort _at Galerie de l’UQAM (Montréal); _Cinéplastique at Centre d’exposition Raymond-Lasnier (Trois-Rivières) and Réanimation at L’œil de poisson (Québec City). His works are part of private and public collections including those of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
