Lucy Raven

Lucy Raven was born in 1977 in Tucson, Arizona, and lives and works in New York. She studied at Bard College’s Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts and works with animation, installation, sound, and the live format of the illustrated lecture. She currently teaches sculpture at Cooper Union (New York).

Raven’s films and installations have been exhibited internationally, including at the MoMA (New York, 2010); the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, 2012); mumok (Vienna, 2013); Images Festival (Toronto, 2013); the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco, 2014); Portikus (Frankfurt, Germany, 2014); the Berlinale and Oberhausen (Germany, 2013/2015) and Wavelengths at the Toronto International Film Festival (2014). Over the last two years, Raven has been an artist in residence at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY, U.S.A.). She recently premiered a new commission there, a site-specific cinema built for a single (3D) image, called Tales of Love and Fear (2015).
