Nicole Jolicoeur

Nicole Jolicoeur lives and works in Montreal. A multidisciplinary artist, her practice encompasses a variety of approaches, including photographic and textual installation, audio and video works, drawings and the publication of writings and artist’s books. She taught at the Université Laval École des arts visuels from 1972 to 1990 and at the UQAM École des arts visuels et médiatiques from 1990 to 2007.
Her solo exhibitions include Toucher sur image (vibrato) at the Université Laval Galerie des arts visuels (2015) and Archives vagabondes at the Espace d’art et d’essai Occurrence (2014). She has also participated in the group exhibitions Repriser at the Galerie de l’UQAM (2020), Taking (a) part at Mercer Union (Toronto, 2014), Hysteria and the Body at the National Gallery of Canada (2008-2009), C’est arrivé près de chez nous at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (2008), À visages découverts at the Centre régional d’art contemporain Le 19, (Montbéliard, France, 2005) and Past Imperfect at the Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art (Rancho Cucamonga, California, 2001). Her works are held in a number of public collections, including those of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the National Gallery of Canada, the Musée-château d’Annecy (France), the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Canada Council Art Bank and UQAM.
