Suzanne Girard

Suzanne Girard is a Quebec photographer, activist and filmmaker. She began her career as a photographer, then worked in festival organization in Montreal: at the Festival des films de femmes de Montréal, the Festival international du cinéma chinois and the Festival image+nation. In 1993, with Puelo Deir, she co-founded Divers/Cité, a festival that celebrated gay and lesbian culture annually until 2014.

Suzanne Girard directs her only short film, Rest-O-Rant (1987), based on photographs documenting workers at La Paryse, a popular Montreal restaurant. [Source: VOX, 2025]
