Audrey Bartis is Professor of Design Theory at the Université du Québec à Montréal École de design. Her areas of research include the semiology of the image and the body, art theory and fashion design. She has taught at the Institut français de la mode in Paris (2002-2012), and taught semiotics and branding at various design and management schools in Europe. Her current research focuses on representations of the body in different contexts, such as mass communication images and contemporary artworks. Her research focuses on the analysis of corporeal discourses and metadiscourses in large-scale image ensembles, and on the construction of specific “corporeal territories” within different visual contexts. The themes of materiality and the relationship between image, body and language are central to her academic career. [Source: VOX, 2025]
