Marcel Blouin was born in Saint-Hyacinthe in 1960. After studying social sciences (Université de Montréal) and art history (UQAM), he earned a master’s degree in arts studies (UQAM). He was director of Vox Populi (now VOX) from 1985 to 1997. A co-founder of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal (now MOMENTA Biennale d’art contemporain), he was its co-director from 1987 to 1989, then its director until 1997. He also co-directed the magazine Ciel variable during the same period. From 2001 to 2025, he was general and artistic director of EXPRESSION, Centre d’exposition de Saint-Hyacinthe and co-director of ORANGE, événement d’art actuel de Saint-Hyacinthe.
