Moridja Kitenge Banza

Born in Kinshasa in 1980, Moridja Kitenge Banza is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist of Congolese origin who expresses himself through painting, photography, video, drawing and installation. He graduated from the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa, the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Nantes Métropole, as well as the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of La Rochelle.
A recipient of the Sobey Art Award (2020), he has exhibited his work in several prestigious institutions in Canada and abroad, including the Canadian Cultural Centre (Paris, France), the National Gallery of Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Dakar Biennale (Senegal), nGbK (Berlin, Germany) and the Casablanca International Biennale (Morocco). More recently, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, the Musée d’art de Joliette and the PHI Foundation have presented solo exhibitions of his work.
